Can anyone give me some background on the design of these raku tea =
mugs/cups? My father brought them back from Okinawa Japan in 1960, but =
other than that, I have no information about their production, brand =
name, style, etc.

You are something misunderstood about "Raku Yaki", the orign of
"Raku Yaki" means "hand made pottery", "hand made" means crafted
without potter's wheel, so the design is very free not limitted
only for cups.

Raku means "easy" in English, so the "Raku Yaki" means "easy hand
crafted pottery".

"Raku yaki" is hand maded, so generally no brand name since it is
not mass produced, however sometimes there is a craftsman's signature
bihind the bottom, of course there are lots of creators in Japan.
